Can spiritual gifts be a Curse?
In the bible during many instances, we see a curse when people sin. Take an example of Noah in Genesis 9:22, who cursed Ham for seeing his father naked and told his two brothers outside. How then can an endowment given by God be a curse?
Some of us have spiritual gifts without knowing their existence in us, we therefore flow in them unknowingly and even operate in them. We tend to react to them in reflex mode, acting towards them without conscious thought but as rather a probability of God’s capability.
This makes it strenuous to the withholder and instead of feeling like the blessing they are, they feel as a curse.
God holds user manuals to all gifts therefore expects us to constantly ask for guidance while flowing in them gradually.
If we use our own understanding, the gifts feel as a burden and a cross too heavy to carry. When we make it about Jesus Christ, He enables us do a very good work and to be a blessing not just to ourselves but also to the people around us. As we progress, we master the spiritual gifts God has rewarded us and enjoy ourselves while living in them.
“A spiritual gift can never be a curse unless you are not led by the Holy Spirit in it”, we get confirmation of this from 1 Corinthians 12. In this portion of scripture, the Church in Corinth was very troubled and Paul addressed their troubles about gifts from the Holy Spirit with corrections.
As a believer, you might be struggling with spiritual gifts or lost your way trying to discover what gifts you are blessed with – May this scripture encourage and bless you in your journey of salvation.
Never forget, the journey of salvation requires patience and most of all the grace of God.
